Wolfsburg withdraw from summer transfer market

Kicker reports that the VfL Wolfsburg front office has declared itself done with the summer transfer market. The Bundesliga outfit will neither sign nor sell any more players before the transfer window closes later this evening. This naturally means that Algerian attacker Mohamed Amoura shall be remaining put despite links with Benfica.

In terms of arrivals, all of the sensational links reported on in the last few days will amount to nothing. Top club administrators Peter Christiansen and Sebastian Schindzielorz believe that newly appointed head coach Paul Simonis has enough players to work with over the course of the rest of the 2025/26 Bundesliga “Hin-Runde“.

Wolfsburg remain undefeated heading into the first international break of the season. The Lower Saxon Autostädter demolished opening round DFB Pokal opponents SV Hemelingen 0-9 away and also emerged victorious in their first Bundesliga away fixture against 1. FC Heidenheim.

A 1-1 draw against Mainz 05 in their home opener yesterday left much to be desired, but the options accorded Simonis on the squad allow the new head coach plenty of wiggle room insofar as personnel rotations are concerned. There’s also space for attackers linked with other clubs.

Wolfsburg possess a rising talent in young German striker Dzenan Pejcinovic, who received his first Germany U21 call up ahead of the forthcoming September break. Amoura can still gain minutes as a left slant attacker whilst Patrick Wimmer moves to Pejcinovic’s right-hand-side.
